I have been focusing on FANG doing leetcode python. Should I shift to c++? Recruiter wasn't too helpful and says anything Software and/or HW is fair game. #interview
I'm pretty cool with C++11/14 and STL. Will just go back and code
C/C++ would be better for Embedded/Firmware roles
if it is safety related then also look at at Misra and Autosar C++ standards too
Cool username 👍
Yeah lol
They ask language specifics, make sure you refresh on those
That's normally a bad sign if the recruiter is not helpful. It sounds like they need to pad their numbers. Good luck!
"Pad their numbers"? What does that mean?
Just add headcount?
Most embedded code is strong on C. Look up MISRA coding guidelines and stick to them. Don't use malloc, everything needs to be deterministic, repeatable,...etc. Understand soft and hard real-time including pre emptive scheduling.
Definitely understand the pros and cons of using both preemptive and simple round robin scheduling, if its safety you're trying to get into it may come up. Also about memory protection and functional safety / ISO 26262
My interview was either C++ or Python at a similar company. I just asked the recruiter what the interview topics were so that I can better prepare. You added safety, so is this for a safety engineer position?
Can I DM regarding the interview experience? I'm going through one now
What Renesas said above, and for the Safety aspect, it’s to do with building redundancy into the design and detection of errors (range checks, plausibility, etc) so that faults and failures don’t cascade and turn into a vehicle fault which becomes safety critical because this is a level 4/5 autonomous vehicle
You really don't know what your talking about do you?
You are right. I have no idea what I’m talking about after my years of experience in automotive embedded software. On the other hand, you know everything after making a website that sells cheap furniture.
Argo is going to fail. That bean counting bull sh isn't going to get real world results LMAO.
No idea what you’re talking about with bean counting lol. Our tech is some of the best in the industry, just wait!
These dudes think they are superior because they collected the most data lmao.
Are they stealing Tesla’s claim?
Sorry highest resolution of data.

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
If the role is for C++, you'll need to be able to demonstrate proficiency. Especially C++11 and STL. Especially with embedded, you won't get away with python only coding. I'd ask your interviewer though if there is a language for each problem. If things like hashtables are needed I'll jump to python instead of C... Or just use Cand brute force. I'd strike out of they wanted C++11 and STL :(
C++ has hash table, in C though... Yeah I don't feel like reimplementing it 🙄
