My team writes shitty code with silly design. I recently joined and I tried to explain to couple of people and they don’t listen. They just want to get it done. I tried to point in code reviews and they just don’t listen. Since joined recently, How I deal this situation. At the same time I don’t want them to scrutinize me for silly reasons after that. My total experience: 2 yrs
Try not to push hard. The “system” May push back to you hard. In other words, do not underestimate the culture
This. Go with the flow. Your peers can hurt you during performance reviews.
+1 there is so much 1 person can do. but usually teams have senior people who can enforce this kind of things
This is really team dependent, my team is religious about code reviews (2 sign offs needed and you can’t merge to master without them) but others apparently aren’t. Best bet is to keep trying, and if you’re still unsuccessful then talk to your manager in your 1:1 and see what she/he says.
Ya try talking to the manager and I bet u would be more surprised :)
After reading post i thought you were in Microsoft.
Right
What team is that? What kinda manager let’s this happen
Shitty managers at Oracle
Transfer to my team. DM me. Every design and every line of code gets carefully reviewed.
Thank you, but I’m not trying to go away from problem but trying to figure that out.
When I was in Oracle, we don't have formal code review. We can check in freely. So lots of time even uncompilable code was checked in.
