Hi Blinders…. YOE 20 years CTC 150k I hope you don’t laugh at those numbers, everyone here has had a different path they took. Some are happier with lesser money, for some the other way round. Me - I am looking to make more money. And am prepared to work hard for it..i have coasted long enough. I am about to have an interview at Cohesity and i would like to know your views of the company, how difficult the technical rounds would be, and what would be a fair salary for my or similar experience. Genuine feedbacks will ALWAYS be appreciated. Trolls, pls just let me live :-)
well I was at oracle with 150k at 15 years experience so yeah don't worry about that. I can't really help you with what to expect in cohesity but one thing I realized going from oracle to a much smaller company a clear systematic thought process (aka take a minute to figure out what the interviews is looking for before trying to answer it is important). and yes a thick skin. it's a little easier to do it online than it's in person but in person is more important. I use humor to deflect sarcastic comments but most times ain't smart enough to get the smart alec reply in time . best of luck on your journey. as they say in Hindi, jab jaage tab savera.
If it's for data path team in cohesity, they will focus a lot on multithreading.
If the job title says anything about Magneto, data path, distributed systems etc. prepare well for consensus algorithms like paxos and raft. Also practice threading concepts in C++. Locks, semaphores, OS basics like scheduling, virtual memory etc. Also see write ahead logs, range locks in C++. If the job description mentions keywords likes cloud platform, DMaaS, microservices, Helios, ETL etc. prepare for some basic Golang concepts, read about Kubernetes and Docker(basics), message queues, ETL concepts. In addition to above, practicing DS/Algo still applies. Practice for LC mediums with little bit of an aptitude for hards. Also, all the best in your job search.
Why cohesity? IPO carrot? If I was you, I would avoid cohesity at any cost. It is not a place to coast or do good work at ease without to much pressure and micromanagement. It is a sweatshop and most teams in shambles as I heard from friends there. If you thrive in a toxic culture then go to amazon, at least it gives you a big resume boost.
Agreed
All incorrect.
Thanks. I appreciate your feedback. Problem is - I don’t even get an acknowledgment from Meta/Google/Microsoft. Yes, I did try Amazon….went as far as onsite…and was kicked out :/)
Do you know What team at Cohesity or what job description, I got hired In dec.
I honestly don’t know. Just an interview , i was concerned about.
Congratulations.!! Huge respect. Started grinding when i had 10 yoe. Age and yoe is just a number 👍👍
Thanks a lot! I am leetcoding every time i get. Am at 450+, but sometimes forget ones I’d solved, before. No issues- I will just work harder.
I had the same problem too, i would recommend to start taking notes and start grouping problems of similar pattern which you can go back and refer. I use notion for this so that i can simply refer it on mobile when i have some time.
