Managed to get a downleveled from Staff offer for Senior (IC5) at Coinbase. Been at Amazon a while and rated TT L6. Could stay and try and for better offers of try for PE too within a year or so. Failed onsites: Meta, Google, Stripe Coinbase Comp: Base: 206K, Bonus:20K,Target RSU (Annual) 175K Current Amazon TC: 370 (Stock been flat RSUs not growing)

If I took an IC5 role I am not sure I’d get a PE role out of boomerang right? I thought about dive and save, but would AMZN even offer anything if the competing offer is only 25K higher? Worried about exposing myself for such a small bump
I understand. You didn't have to share the same offer. You could fake it. People get a much better comp now on joining. Especially
Even boomeranging back at L6 you can negotiate for top of band which is ~500K. Check recent L6 offers on levels.fyi.

What’s sketchy about it? First Yr TT was 390 last yr (assuming 15% growth) when stocks were awarded. I got 61 shares vested this yr. I actually don’t think I got any new ones for this yr (when I got TT), it was all for next yr since this yr was already set. But I’m getting same (61-62 shares) next yr too (with assumed 15% growth which isn’t happening lol)

Vaguely. I’m sure the “behavioral “ stuff with hiring manager had me at IC6 cuz that was the phone screen. I had a coding session I know didn’t go great(got stuck on something, I know I can do better). Which they confirmed. The Reverse System design they said wasn’t large enough scope which was shocking cuz that system I’ve built is pretty big and keeps a team of 8 devs very busy. (I’ve guided the Architecture and coding throughout entire process) The main system design they said was good but not good enough for Staff.

You might feel limited in scope at IC5 coming as a tenured L6, as IC5 is more like high L5-low L6. Also getting promoted to IC6+ is similar to L7 promo, so don't bet on that. Better option would be to keep interviewing.
Thank you for feedback ! This is exactly what I worried about too. I will still do some team matching and talk about that promo path with the managers. See if they can convince me it’s a good move. Any suggestions on questions to ask managers when doing team matching?

Hardly seems worth it for a $25k increase in TC. As long as you’re happy with your role at Amazon, stay and keep looking
The one thing I’ll say that makes coinbase tempting even as is, is that with high performance ratings you get up to 2X the RSU even in same role. (So can get to 550)
Are you bullish on Coinbase stock? Amazon stock is probably the safer choice, but I bet Coinbase stock also has more upside
