I just got a generous offer from Coinbase. But with the talk of recession and crypto slowing down I’m concerned about the risk of layoffs. Can anyone at Coinbase give me the pulse of whether this is actually a risk at this point? I don’t want to leave a good job just to be first in line for a RIF.
Yeah don't do it or just do it. You'll never know
I’m personally extremely NOT concerned about layoffs. This isn’t Coinbase’s first crypto winter
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT ?
Coinbase is a risk. Stay put.
TC or GTFO
First you learn to be generous with tc and offer info
Coinbase comp is standardized and everyone at that level gets the same. Pretty easy to see it on levels.fyi and no value in asking for it in here.
I don’t see it as an issue with crypto winter. Even if crypto prices are at ath, will coinbase nevertheless be in decline? Look at robinhood for example, if the s&p gets back to ath, I doubt robinhood will be go back to ath. The answer will depend on how you valuate coinbase
Robinhood didn’t make money. That’s the problem. Robinhood and Coinbase are both fintechs yes but very different.
Well then take meta. Even if stock market reach ath meta won’t be recovering to ath. Many companies in downward spiral won’t make it. Take any of them, tDoc, peloton, etc. Depends if you think the same will happen to coinbase
With the amount of cash CB has layoffs are extremely unlikely
layoffs are extremely unlikely??
Yeah my bad
dont worry about that. worry about the shitty managers
Which org has somewhat decent mngrs? What are the red flag for shitty mngrs ? - amz mngr ?
depends on org and function. wallet and growth are good

Balance sheet is good. Hiring freeze likely, layoffs extremely unlikely. Winter is when crypto companies build and get ahead. It is against company strategy to layoff especially since we are extremely flushed with cash
Do you happen to know, if a hiring freeze occurs, would people who have accepted, but not joined yet be affected?
If you’re in the pipeline you’ll probably get through
