Hey coinbase people, This is bit of a rant but what's up with the main Coinbase app. (I know coinbase pro exist) For context I used bunch of crypto apps & traded and this is the first time struggling with an app and this is suppose to be for average users, here are some problems 1. App is extremely slow like generally apps feels heavy (fancy transitions not helping either) 2. UX is terrible (app even goes as far as changing things for me - even brightness changes for some screens???) 3. Why is crypto news is at the main screen like it is the most important thing for average crypto buyer? 4. App sends email to verify new device, press the unique email link, can not open native app but opens web browser (coinbase site) and fails there saying can't verify the device. 5. Some tokens say "this asset is not supported by Coinbase" why do even list it if that's the case? #crypto #bitcoin Do you find app intuitive and fast?
Isn’t their app built with react native so they don’t have to hire specific android and iOS developers? That might be why it’s slow
Not from coinbase here pro.coinbase.com is even more non intuitive but has a lower fees and spread. The app is more for a novice user/general public and hence the fancy effects and the desire to deliver a polished experience I never experienced brightness changes on the iOS app. In case if you see a coin and decided to buy say ethereum token and than exchange it at sushiswap Personally and this may sound weird but I want an exchange to be unintuitive. That enforces the message that i am at an exchange and a mistake will have heavy consequences unlike say buying a wrong item on Amazon app
But it is not polished experience that's my point Brightness change is I think there to make qr code reading easier to receive coin for other phone. Pushing for a not intuitive app design just to remind user that the operation they are doing dangerous is a sure way to pissing users off.
No. We’re working on it though.
Extremely difficult to make things fast if we stick with react native. We should hire proper native mobile engineers imo
True! I just created an internal poll to see the views on this. I doubt we can do much better with RN honestly

Atrocious app. Worst part is they can't calculate returns per holding or on whole portfolio
