What's a typical time to hear back from a company like coinbase or kraken?
Coinbase rejected me about 45 minutes after I applied.
They send rejection emails?
They did for me
Coinbase has rejected me several times, almost immediately. However, one time myself and my former intern applied for the same position and he not only got an interview scheduled hours later, but eventually landed the job! The theory I have is that Coinbase being a larger company than most of their crypto contemporaries, actually isn't interested in filling senior level roles, or even hiring any senior level candidates at all. They rather hire mid-level & entry level roles within the company. As (according to my former intern) they are grouped into very large teams managed by a single department head. Once again, that's the theory I came up with based on my own personal experiences, and from my former intern's advice. He actually instructed me to "dumb down" my resume - or rather I suggested and he agreed. However, they could simply just dislike me for whatever reason. I've been involved in crypto for about 5 years now, been a co-founder before, and have always held some sort of senior level role. I'm actually speaking at both of the upcoming NFT conferences (NYC & Miami), so I have some name value aka baggage that comes along with me. Here is my problem. I'm sick of being with these startups that go under, or stuck under a token vestment contract that just never pays out. Most of the time I'm misclassified as a contractor anyhow, so I don't even get any benefits 😒 At this point I just want stability. I'm fine just being another "cog in the wheel" sotospeak. In fact, I'd prefer it at this stage in my career. I just want to go to work, do my job well, collect my health insurance, and not have to worry about job security. That's hard to do when working with startups, which is what 99% of all crypto companies are. Coinbase is as close to a mainstream tech company as I can get. Also, the office is only a few blocks down the street from me. Which beats working from home on various international time zones. So I'll keep trying. I apply to Coinbase once every six months or so. No luck so far, but maybe one day they'll give in and offer me a shot 😎🙃😎
This is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. I have 3 YOE and am senior level at my current company but when I talked to Coinbase, they said I would be up for senior and lead roles. If I get in, I’ll refer you :)
While using their product it is pretty obvious that they don’t have a lot of true senior+ folks.
In a few days with an offer? Or got back to you after you initially applied?
I applied for coin base Senior manager role and immediately got the response and interview was schedule. My interview went awesome but recruiter told me that their senior manager scope was bigger than what I have been managing currently. I politely said, “No Thank you”.
The recruiter called me some 3-4 days after I applied. He scheduled the interviews based on my availability and was really flexible and friendly. After four rounds of interviews, they sent a mail saying I'm rejected after about a week... I guess I messed up some of the rounds, but still, it was a good experience
