Friend recently graduated and has an offer for a third party contractor for MSFT, but also has a future interview in January with actual MSFT. They don't want to accept the contract in case it will ruin thier chances with MSFT, ie puts thier name in some database saying they are no longer eligible as a university hire. They also don't want to turn them down and risk having nothing. Looking for advice on thier behalf. Does accepting this job then immediately switching if the MSFT interview goes well cause any problems (besides upsetting the contractor)? Thank you!
Being an fte is a thousand times better than being a contractor at msft. If he has a chance he should go for it
Being contractor doesn’t preclude you from being hired as FTE. But your negotiating leverage will take a hit. I’d say tell ur friend to delay the contractor job as long as possible.
If you cant delay, take the contactor job and do not mention it in the interview. Getting fte offer is infinitely better and so long as you complete the fte loop before starting as a contractor you will be fine.
Msft does contact to hire now? 😂
No, this is a third party contractor offer, sorry if I am not making this clear
