Coming back to Google 2022

Some of my friends received lucrative offers from various companies last year and jumped the boat. Unfortunately some of them didn’t do well this year, like FB, Netflix, Snap. So they’re trying to come back to G. But because of the hiring freeze and despide “less than one year - no interview” rule they cannot come back. Anyone else is in the same situation?

Feel bad for those who want to go back to Google. So much better work happening at most other companies.

What makes you say that?

I don’t think “one year rule” is true. I know it’s OK to come back in 2 years or even longer as long as you can accept the same level.

It really depends on your role and if you were considered a regrettable loss

I left Google for Snap two years ago, even Snap is not doing well recently, I still think it was a right move. I was tired of re-orgs, office politics and low impact projects at Google.

I hope you sold Snap when it was on the peak…
