Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team at Microsoft
Interviewing for a L65 P SDE role for this team. Seeing alot of mixed things on blind, want to know more about this team, what they work on, etc. Currently have an offer from Oracle (OCI industry cloud, non-OCI core) that im considering however Microsoft has always been at the top of my list of companies. #engineering #software #swe
They work on customer engagements to build solutions for externals companies using Azure services. Pros: great culture, work with newer Azure tech stack, customer facing impact, encouraged to learn new skills and keep up to date with new technology Cons: somewhat slow moving due to coding with the customer and making sure they stay aligned with you, sometimes there’s down time between engagements which may get boring
I'm seeing a few comments around blind that most of the work is yaml? does this mean most of the engagements are devops related?
I don’t think most are fully devops. Most involve building APIs and dashboards or pipelines for the customer. There are a lot of different dev teams working with variety of customers so it can vary from engagement to engagement since you wouldn’t work with the same customer every time.
Thanks for the advice, i went thro several interviews but they seem very disorganized i had other offers waiting so took one from a diff company whose culture matched more what i was looking for. They seem like nice people but it does seem like their managers are very green as it shouldnt take 9 interviews to decide on hiring someone or not....either way thanks for the info!
