Commuting to Facebook campus

I’m going to start a job at Facebook MPK, and planning to rent a place in Redwood City. I’m trying to figure out the commute. I dont have a car (and i cant even drive), so I was looking at shuttle bus options. It looks like there are only a couple of stops: does it mean i would have to live somewhere close to them? Please help me figure out...

Just live close to the Facebook office - apparently you get some bonus to do that.

Can you live close to Caltrain and get a shuttle from caltrain to the office?

Hm okay thanks let me look into it!

Ask to the recruiter or hr, there is a shuttle stop map.

They sent me the schedule (not the map though) but I see there are only a few stops - that’s why I’m asking ..

Almost impossible to live on peninsula without a car. Start learning how to drive?

Shit I thought so ... :( I will start when I move! Will take some time though ..

Rent a place in Atherton!

BMO noicce OP Mar 23, 2020

I’ve been told Redwood City is the best to live in when you work at FB... Would you say Atherton is better?

Cloudera Kiki12 Mar 23, 2020

Yeah, you can bike to commute. Also you can find 3-4 month temp accommodation easily in east Menlo Park and East Palo Alto. Move somewhere in longer terms once you get through DMV.

What about living in San Jose?

Cloudera Kiki12 Mar 23, 2020

God no, it’s equally expensive and you do not want to stuck in traffic.

I saw a place 1bd/1ba there for 1.8k

You're going to want to learn to drive regardless unless you live in the city.

BMO noicce OP Mar 25, 2020

Okay, got it. I’ll do that as soon as I move!

If you are young live in SF will be much more fun and you won’t need a car.

Try Newark

You can get a bike and live around bay trails. https://baytrail.org/get-on-the-trail/map-by-number/ Redwood City to mpk is less than 30 mins.

I actually already have a bike!! Wow that’s an awesome option, thanks for the link, I’ll check it out !!
