225K TC: 175 base, 50 Guaranteed performance bonus, 75 signing bonus SWE with 3 years experience. I am going to join as a software developer in a back office infrastructure team based in NYC. How is the year-over-year growth in base and bonus in Citadel for SWE?
I wouldn't do it. I was in a similar situation as you, joined fb with a a similar comp package, interviewed in the Chicago office for citadel. Honestly I hated the place, hours seemed brutal, no work life balance and seemed like growth was very slow
Well, if I had an offer from Facebook, it's an easy decision for me. The other offer I have is a return offer from Amazon. It is 155K per year. Before my masters, I was working for 3 years as SWE but Amazon (most tech companies) treats us as new grad only. Citadel was willing to negotiate a better package. I can at least get the 300K for the first year and get out if I can't handle Citadel.
Second this. 1 yr and out.
The comp is a bit low. My friend got an offer from Citadel as a new grad and his offer was pretty close to yours except his base was 150k.
Technically, I am still treated as a new grad by almost all tech companies. I am getting my masters and the 3 years experience before that is not counted. Citadel was willing to negotiate my package so that it is better than new grad but not really at the next level. Was the signing bonus 75K for ur friend as well?
Ohh you're getting your masters. Makes sense. Yeah his signing bonus was 75k as well.
175+50+75 != 225
The 75 signing bonus is just for the first year. For total comp calculation, u should only consider the recurring portion. Hence 225.
@BendTheKne finally someone gets it. Tired of seeing people overinflate their comp on blind Good on you, sir. Good on you.
Work for an year and come out
Working hours and conditions are brutal. No where close to the laid back tech scene in the West. Expect to get up early and be at office by 8
Is this for real? A swe at the office by 8 am?
Is it really that laid back in the west? Most people spend a lot of time(2hours daily) in commute. Plus high paying companies like Facebook actually make u work around 9 hours each day. I feel that the entire tech industry is high pay/high pressure. Again depends on ur team and manager. I am a single guy fresh out of college and I think I can do the 8 am routine atleast for the first year.
