Companies should be required to disclose salary details

Anonymozed and aggregated data for every level. Eg. 10% of SDE 2's earn x base, y rsu's. 20-50% earn z, etc. Should make it a more even playing ground for negotiations. Counter arguments welcome.

This is against frugality, hire and develop the best.

Amazon WfPI23 Feb 20, 2019

But I wish this to happen. Also better include year in Amazon's

Amazon Aidwn Feb 20, 2019

This will only lead to socialism. Period. Go study some research you will find that: if they disclose more, people will get more averaged and mediocre pay in the end.

The company can always refuse paying more. And a candidate can always leave if they feel they're being undervalued. Imo it's classic free market and capitalism, just more transparent.

Amazon Aidwn Feb 20, 2019

Capitalism does not lead to transparent at all. Socialism does that better becuase everybody gets similar pay.

Disclosing this information can impact morale significantly. Most of people will feel underpaid as salaries usually follow a normal distribution. Would you put more effort knowing for sure that you have an average salary? The only effect for this is to increase job hoping or mediocrity.

If every company does it, wouldn't it be something employees get used to (eventually) ?

Amazon lolwhat Feb 20, 2019

It's not like we don't know about it already. We just don't know the exact number.

No I am largely against regulations. Unless it’s a matter of public health or safety then no we shouldn’t make companies do that. And yes I acknowledge it would probably help the worker.

There is quite a bit of research on this topic. It would be a net positive to society.
