** edit: I’m asking about WLB for non-SWE specifically data analyst/scientist roles ** I’m stressed at FB, and looking to move to a company that has great WLB, good managers, supportive culture that isn’t competitive, and has good job security. Preferrably tech industry, but also open to other industries too at this point. Any ideas for data analysts/scientists specifically? Or even PM (since DS got hit during layoffs). I don’t want to hear about WLB for SWE since that is already well established from Blind discussions & can be very different than data functions. I know, I know, it sounds like I’m asking for something that doesn’t exist. However my previous company was actually like this so I know it exists, but I left to pursue FAANG. Looking for 175k-220k TC range. YOE 6. #data #dataanalytics #datascience
Hubspot. Consistently at the top in the list of WLB. Also heard about it from the friends actually working there
Can confirm & would recommend. WLB here is also often what you make out of it. I prefer working longer hrs and more frequent vacations, but lots of my colleagues leave work at work at 5pm.
Square
Square has good wlb? I thought everyone there was smart so it would be competitive
For which data positions?
Product analyst unless you have a PhD for the most part. Good WLB and tc is the same as FB ds analytics
Not recommended for DS. The product direction for DS is very bad. The goal for DS teams is always a moving target and it results in constant re-work and no clear objective.
@LinkedIn I knew WLB was good for eng, but thanks for sharing this insight for DS! I had some reservations when I interviewed with LinkedIn that it wasn’t a very data driven company, and that the analytics was quite basic and still being developed so I didn’t get the sense they value DS very much. Can you elaborate more on the goal changing? I assume this is also the case for Analysts? Do you know anything about PM? (debating if I should change career paths if I can’t find good WLB for DS...)
I’ll be joining FB as DE next month....I’m happy with work and culture here at current company... not sure if it’s worth to move to FB for brand ... any suggestions?
That’s tough. I went through the same thing you did. It’s tough and day to day I regret the decision, but it’s probably better long term for my career. Feel free to DM if you have questions or wanna talk it out So Cloudflare WLB is good in the analytics org?
DMed you. And yes Cloudflare overall culture and Analytics team is really good.
Microsoft won't pay you FANG money. But the WLB and benefits are very good if you'll settle for 80% FANG compensation at equivalent level.
Try 60% comp. but great wlb. Per hour rate is probably highest at msft
What position in MSFT? Data scientist or analyst? Any particular org? Is it hard to get a job after MSFT?
I can't speak to those roles specifically, but at ServiceNow there is great WLB in SWE roles. I checked and there are data analyst roles open in Chicago and Santa Clara. PM if you want more info or a referral
Do you think that they will allow to work for those openings from San Diego office?
They tend to prefer people working out of the office the job is assigned to. Exceptions are sometimes made, but usually for existing employees rather than new hires. And who knows if that policy will change, given the amount of remote work currently happening due to covid There's a Product Manager - Data Informatics role based in San Diego if that appeals to you
JPMC aka Chase
Data analyst jobs at JPMC?
Asana WLB is quite good and compensation is comparable to FAANG.
Any idea when asana internships open up?
Interesting! For data science or analyst specifically? Is there a specific org?
Salesforce?
Ahh yes, I have heard about this from engineers that WLB is good. Any personal experience or heard anecdotes from data people?
What about SAP?
