It's long past time for us to move past the outdated FAANG acronym as there are literally dozens of companies consistently paying $300k+ in liquid comp to newly hired software engineers with 5 years of experience or less. We need a new acronym that captures all of them. Post your new acronym below! The acronym containing the most qualifying companies wins the competition. There are a few rules: 1. The acronym must be a correctly spelled phrase. 2. The acronym must ONLY contain companies that a) pay all cash or b) issue compensation including public stock or c) have already announced their IPO date or filed for IPO. 3. Every company in the acronym must consistently pay $300k to NEWLY HIRED software engineers with <=5 years of experience (i.e. you can find more than one example on comp.fyi or Blind). Here's an initial list of companies that qualify: Adobe Airbnb Amazon Apple Argo AI Asana Bloomberg Brex Bridgewater Associates Bytedance Citadel Coinbase Cruise Databricks DE Shaw Doordash Dropbox DRW Facebook Google Hudson River Trading Instacart Jane Street Jump Trading LinkedIn Lyft Netflix Nvidia Oracle PDT Partners Renaissance Technologies Robinhood Roblox Salesforce Snap Snowflake SoFi Splunk Square Stripe Twitter Two Sigma Uber Waymo Wish (Notably absent: Microsoft.) Feel free to comment with additional companies and I'll update this post. Have at it!
Why does this feel set up like a Leetcode problem?
I had to add some rules because these need to be companies that are actually worthwhile. Anyone who's been around software engineering knows that startups are crap for TC unless they have some guarantee of liquidity. Which rules should I remove without sacrificing company quality?
How about this one? FAANGSTARSDULLARDCASHBANDITS (FAANG stars dullard cash bandits.) Note: I worked in a FAANG and don't think it's true at all, but it seems apt given the topic. Btw that's: Facebook Amazon Apple Netflix Google Square Twitter Airbnb Robinhood Stripe Dropbox Uber Lyft LinkedIn Asana Roblox Doordash Citadel Argo AI Snap Hudson River Trading Brex Adobe Nvidia Databricks Instacart Two Sigma Snowflake
Good one! I don't think I'll bother posting mine 😳
Slow clap
Albertsons. No other companies.
Ah yes - a tier of their own. They are above TC
