I want to learn C# and .NET by building personal projects. My work computer is a Macbook Pro where we remote into a Windows dev box for work and I have a personal macbook as well. It looks like support for Windows is a lot of better than the Mac variant of VS for example. Should I build personal projects on my work dev box while I learn, buy a new windows machine (if so, which one?), or get a Windows VM in the cloud? (Locally running a windows VM is difficult on my 8GB macbook) Thanks in advance. #engineering #software #swe
I believe .net core works on Mac? Also, there are Mac version of visual studio available. I have never used them though.
.NET core - cross platform ^
Any Lenovo ThinkPad will be fine for .NET development. Get a clearance model for $700
Macbook with Jetbrains Rider is great/good enough for .Net core development. Surprisingly I found jetbrains to be better than VS on native max lol. Source: been working with .Net for 5 years and playing around with projects, templating, VS power using etc.
Visual Studio + .NET 6
