I have been working with the following tech stack for the past 8 years at the same company, 6 years as a junior, 2 years as a senior. I started after I graduated college: Java language, Jetty framework, Neo4j database, IBM source control - not git No microservice, docker, or SQL exposure. I've just completed an interview for a Senior Software Engineering position and got rejected. I believe I fell short in my lack of exposure to new tooling/technologies that exist at other companies. I have fears that I am currently stuck in stasis with my outdated skill set. I'm highly motivated and I'm a high achiever at my current workplace - it's just I've got an outdated skill set. Anyone else in this position able to nail an interview at a TOC of $250k or higher? Any advice for someone in this situation? YOE 8 TOC $110k
Im i’m a similar position and im about to start interviewing soon, been prepping since January (i have no degree so i had zero DS/A knowledge) going to make the jump soon i’ll let you know how it goes 6 YOE
8 years and without any SQL experience? Rly?
You gotta change jobs often this early in your career. Get out of your comfort zone. You cannot grow where there is no pressure.
No one knows what you do at your current company. Learn new stuff, work on some side projects. Tell you're experienced in that. There's literally no way for them to verify
leetcode skills?
Just average. It's really hit or miss for me. If it's considered important, I would spend more time on it
yes it’s way more important than your tech stack if you’re trying to get a job at big techs
