So today I have officially decided to start looking for new roles internally and externally from Google Cloud. I am in my 4th year and in December I receive my last large vest. It has been a long road here at GCP and frankly I see GCP sales organization turning into an Oracle sales culture. The path toward promotion is challenging and constant reorg is driving me to the edge. I feel like the only thing keeping me here is the brand. I am looking for the Blind communities help on this one. Should I stick it out or find greener grass? TC- $300k Base: 100k Variable: $150k (exceeded quota once in 4 years) GSU: $50k (next year this drops to $20k) Help a brotha out!!

If you still like the cloud space, could always switch to AWS or Azure - but will probably be about the same idea as GCP. Another option is moving to one of the hot up and comers like Snowflake, MongoDB, Confluent, Databricks, etc. their AEs get paid quite well. If you are tired of sales, maybe explore a program manager or sales ops role internally.
Where would you go? I'm seeing similar things in the AWS sales org, but have higher comp (and YoE), and got a refresher which keeps things interesting going into year 5. Might be worth it to answer some of those cold reach-outs on LinkedIn and figure out what else is out there!

Oracle culture means, more aggressive sales, less customer centric, and internal reps that donāt really collaborate or work as a cohesive unit towards to customer. This not the case for all reps, but oracle has a āmeā first mentality across the various pillars

I was under the impression that Microsoft and google are better in regards to sales culture, compared to AWS and oracle..? Obviously will be highly subjective and dependent on multiple variables, but in general I would think google isnāt as cut throat and aggressive as oracle
