What is the average bonus in consulting for each position ? How does it compare to the salary ? #finance #consulting
I’m a first year and I’m expecting 0-30% depending on utilization at my firm
Really depends what type of consulting you’re talking about. When I was at the Big 4 in a consulting role, it was 10-20%. Admittedly, I was not in a premier consulting role, but I don’t get the sense that comp at the Big 4 is ever driven primarily by bonus which differs from my experience in finance
The bonus can vary a lot depending on what kind of consulting you are talking about, and at which firm, but generally you are looking at an average of 10-20%, though some top consulting shops will pay more to top performers, and of course you can get a goose egg based on poor performance anywhere. Compare this to tech and finance, you are giving up potentially heavily RSU / stock based comp and cash comp, respectively.
Only because I'm curious, what's the typical all in comp look like if bonus is 10-20%?
I expect my TC to be around 115000 this year as a first year analyst
Lol McKinsey is around 84k for fresh undergrads and you’re claiming 115k for a 3rd tier firm. Lies
Depends on the firm and specific group that you are in at the firm. Big 4 tend to have strong base salary but not as much upside on the bonus (not true of all groups). Boutique firms generally have lower base but more upside on the bonus. 10-30% is pretty standard and goes up substantially as you become more senior.
