I think I am getting over my consulting phase and want to settle with a reputable product company as a senior product manager or tpm @Seattle. Strong background in business intelligence and data warehousing. How should I start preparing ?
Thx !I have 12 plus years of exp..managing projects for f500 clients and ..was a product developer in early phase of my career.. I feel, I can crack senior PM role.. I just need some mentoring, around preparing..
I think it’s very difficult, especially at a reputable product company. Lots of consulting folks move to tech starting with strategy & ops and then move to product. Even then, it is not easy to land a PM job at a reputable product company. Chance of landing a senior PM is slim.
Having technical/developer experience helps with breaking into the industry, but not so much for senior PM
Sr program manager may be easier to get in the door By the way just accepted a sr pgm and am a manager at deloitte
Great ! Congratulations! PM you !

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Expect to come in as a junior PM. Product companies usually expect senior product managers to have experience as a product owner, rather than a consultant to a product owner.
