I recently got contacted by. Staffing agency for a contract position with Google. They have asked for. Copy of my EAD card in order to proceed with the business. Is that the norm? Is it safe to give out these details even before an offer ?
Probably they want to check if you really do have EAD card. There are many consulting companies which submit CPT/OPT candidates with fake experience, so they may want to get rid of those before starting interview process. Having said that, like you, I would not be comfortable with giving these details before offer.
rumors said that once you are contracted positions in Google, there is LITTLE chance you will get into Google as FT in the future. Is that true?
False, I know many people who did contract to FT. You don’t get automatically FT transition if that’s what you mean. That is unlikely. But you have a better shot internally when you apply to other positions.

I dunno about the odds, but I recently interviewed a contractor for conversion to FT and they made it.
Will they offer you $23 per hr ? I suspect there are multiple fishes eating off of Google.
