China CYBERATTACK on UK ? WTF
Sbux seems to have a mixed reputation for engineers. I have an opportunity to join in a contract to hire role. How familiar are you with this arrangement and what are your thoughts? I have a large number of thoughts on the prospect, many of which are less positive honestly, but I would get to further my skills while getting paid in a different environment, which is the primary appeal. Also, I have other offers currently and upcoming that would be much more desirable fundamentally, but want to give this one a fair shake too. >$110/hr through contracting company.
I started at Starbucks as a contractor and made this switch to partner after ~ 8 months. Process took over 2 months but I’ve heard hr has gotten better about the process, especially if your manager pushes them. Some teams are legit, others seem antiquated and move extremely slow. Like any large company Starbucks has its shortcomings, but the things it does have going are 1) scale and 2) great work life balance.
Thanks! What employment type did you come from going into being a contractor? The prospect of going from a cush salaried leadership track job at a questionable employer (not Expedia) to yet another contractor is one of my biggest hangups
Hmm
Depends on the team. Some teams are very good and some teams are very bad.
The impression I've gotten so far has been positive on the team front. Can you share some examples of good and bad teams?
I don’t want to trash anyone. If you liked the team and the tech stack then it’s probably a good team.
TC or GTFO!
