Convincing reason for not accepting offer

I recently got a full time opportunity in one of the mid range companies and a contracting job at Walmart. ( before interview I promised I would take up Walmart if I clear). What would be the most convincing way to deny Walmart offer (without breaking good relation with Walmart recruiter) ??

"Sorry, Walmart sucks"

it's just another employer you're not gonna work for. there's plenty of companies out there. don't sweat it. and it's Walmart..

also, don't make such promises. you put yourself in this position of being a liar.

You also lose all leverage in negotiation. You need them to think you're interested but aren't a walk-in-the-park they can low ball.

This is a very important point for the future, OP. Don't commit until you're actually signing the contract.

you don't need a reason to say no

"Based on my experience contracting here, I no longer think joining full time is the right decision for me at this time."

Tell them you are pro-union and you heard a rumor the Teamsters would be organizing

Be honest, tell the recruiter you received a full time offer. Hence you decided to pursue that full time one but if Walmart is interested to convert the contract to full time you would definitely consider it. Recruiters are humans like us, they sure will understand.

@Pony is right. Sometimes actually most of the time, being straight forward is the least stressful and most productive way forward.

why do you want to leave paypal for a contract role at walmart in the first place?

I'm a contractor at Paypal too

If one or more of the Walmart interviewers seemed like a jerk, tell them that's why. But be polite about it, like "I'm not sure I want to work with X every day for the foreseeable future."

Cisco skc109D Apr 27, 2017

Yeah, don't do this.
