I thank god I am at a relatively stable big corp these days. I was in the job search not long ago and got rejected by tech startups. Now some of the people who interviewed me have been laid off.
And your point? Have some compassion dude
Point being that 9 out of 10 startups suck with pathetic management that make FAANG look somewhat competent.
"unprofitable late stage private companies" That's a pretty risky place to be in. You're essentially at the mercy of being able to sell VCs your pipe dream to keep going. The big appeal of software companies is that it's easy to bootstrap the product so that you can achieve self-sustaining revenue. If you're at $100m+ valuation as a software company but still not sustainable, you're either doing philanthropy or running a ponzi scheme, disguised as a corporate entity.
their mission was carbon elimination with automation of trucking dispatch. They took on the two worst challenges, eliminating carbon and removing manual labor needed for routine dispatch, both of which anger people and both of which take time for people to adapt to. I'm telling you anybody who falls for the carbon crap now will face a similar fate. The carbon emission stuff will come in due time but when everybody contributes a little, not one company taking all the bullets.

Flexport could be next??
Fxck bezos
Convoy was full of the most obnoxious, b-rate, and self-important bros of any startup Iāve ever encountered. So glad i rejected their offer 3 years ago
you got the last laugh, indeed
Sure you rejected them
They built an expensive tech company in an industry that has famously low margins. Amazon built the same product and it didnāt do well but Amazon had the advantage of already having so much volume to move, so they can at a minimum use it that way. Convoy was just a brokerage.
Yep
Sucks to hear. Lots of good folks there. āOver supply of shipping companiesāā¦ya what happens when you have a massive need surge after a huge world event.
this is a broker. the trucks and drivers aren't disappearing. just one less (unprofitable) middleman.
