He said exactly what I've been thinking and worried about as well. We don't have the capacity to deal with this, and shit is about to hit the fan if we don't lock it down now. It's already been spreading for weeks in the US; we need to see how much before we continue to spread it.

It matters. If death/infected is high, it implies that the country is not equipped to conduct testing at a desired rate. Implying that there are that many infected but undiagnosed cases out in the public further accelerating the spread. Also, this could mean that the govt is intentionally trying to control the numbers because it fears the economic impact of the real picture. ~25% for US speaks volumes on how unprepared and chaotic things are here when other countries have it at <2%
