Look I’m not asking for financial advice by any means. I know this isn’t the place for it and people would use it as a chance to be fake comedians. I’m big in investing, so obviously i haven’t been the happiest of campers last of late. But i feel like VR is at the place where the internet was before Amazon, MySpace, eBay all made it super popular. I think VR can tremendously change the world not only in gaming but for doctors, business leaders, real estate developers, clothing companies like Nike etc etc list goes on and on with the people who can benefit from it. Yes i know we are probably about 5-20 years away from that, but with Meta being one of the frontrunners or main people investing and spending time with VR could their stock price be at a massive discount right now? Just curious to hear yalls thoughts TC (of course) 100k YOE: 0-1
It already has changed the world. Just ask the Rohingya.
Meta will have a hard time with user adoption. The media is against them, users don't trust them, the existing use cases feel gimmicky, and the hardware has problems with cost/inducing nausea. I think VR has a future once they've ironed out its problems, but it feels too early. Meta doesn't have the option to wait with Apple forcing their hand given their iOS privacy changes.
Exactly, the technology is not the challenge, repairing meta's reputation is
I am one of those people who lost in meta as well and will be one of those late adopters 😂 so i hear you
Being that far away I don't think the fact that they are a frontrunner means anything. Just look at the history of tech, there's a long tradition of technology front-runners falling by the wayside because they were too early to get it right: - digital cameras (Kodak) - handheld computers (Palm) - graphical user interface ( Apple, although they have since recovered and caught back up) - social media (myspace) - search (Alta Vista, AskJeeves, Yahoo, etc) I think somebody at Wharton actually ran the numbers and near 50% of first movers fail, but only like 8% of iterators.
Front runner? Second Life twenty years later is hardly front running.
Only using that term since OP did. Also no idea what second life is.
If they can find a more elegant way to duct tape a smart phone to your face, then yes. Otherwise, no.
