Could someone create a pm chat bot that will ping engineers for when task will be done?
I know we all find it very helpful to have a pm pinging me about the status of tasks. Perhaps this bot could do it even more frequently and ping your manager if you donโt reply within 60 seconds ๐ I hate when they look at the sprint board for updates instead ๐ก This should free up a pmโs time to make cooler slide shows (weโre seriously lacking in spin animations), or send emails with screenshots of our dashboards when something goes up and to the right ๐
I just joined MS as an SWE, didn't see this animosity towards PMs at my last company and wonder what has bred this dislike? I've heard similarly disparaging comments from engineering management and I don't get what the deal is?
Add integration with GPT-3 for AI generated feature requests.
So take away most of their job?
Why a Chatbot, not a Voicebot ? Which pings and calls you up and if not answered, send a pre drafted mailer tagging the whole team. Asking for Status. With some added functionality I'm sure those Excel sheets and PowerPoints can also be integrated.

You have fun with it bud, if you can just add a small modification in its engine, if the person on the other end say f*of, the bot can't decipher it. ๐
Eventually add more functionalities and replace the whole PM. ๐

Then maybe I can actually get some work done. I spent 2 weeks writing a scope, got it approved, then our TPM said, we should probably do a spec. 2 weeks later it's still not done because I'm having to spec out every little thing that should have been found through iteration. In that time I could have written 2 versions of the code and gotten actual feedback. We've lost sight of what a scope and spec are. A spec is for the developer to know what to develop. Why am I wasting time writing a spec for myself if I already know what to develop? It's all theater.
