Planning a trip to Europe including France and Italy. Wondering if any of you has recommendations for best cards in terms of waiving foreign fees + rewards for flights and hotels. I expect to spend between 5-10k, but I want to play it by ear and will leave most of the bookings in the air until last minute. I wonder if with a good card by the end of the trip I could have enough points to get free hotels/flights. Edit: many great answers so narrowing down needs below - Won't be able to use a single airline or hotel chain (Europe is eclectic and sometimes wil be visiting personal network, so hard to put a lot of conditions when you go to small towns in different countries). Cash back or general purpose rewards preferred over points towards single airline/hotel chain. - fees and currency exchange rate are a huge money sink in my experience. Any of the cards guaranteeing exchange rate besides the fees?
Schwab, but it’s debit. No fees, though, plus all foreign atm fees are refunded
I wonder if they hide fees in the conversion rate. Many of them play that trick
Schwab is best for debit purpose if traveling internationally, for creditcard these days many provide 0 fees travel cards, I use bank of america travel rewards
Revolut is in the US now. But it’s debit, not that it makes a difference
CSR for most spend and Schwab Investor Checking for ATMs have been my go-to for years.
Chase Sapphire. Research on The Points Guy based on your needs.
Revolut is the best option for travel. Using it myself and am super happy
Wow, that’s very good. I recommended Rev earlier from a European’s perspective. Cash back here would be a measly 0-1% if any (if you got that 5% cash back card from a provider here, do let me know who’s offering it! 😄) The question tho, are there any additional charges that would outweigh the cash back? E.g. subscription fees, exchange fees, anything else
Chase
Is this trolling or serious? Which one?
Any chase card cc works in Eu and has no fees
