How can I improve my credit score? I’m hovering around 760-770 but would like to get to 800+
I’m at about 840. Low utilization, pay your bills on time, and don’t close your oldest credit card lines.
How long is your credit history?
20+ years.
Low utilization ( less than 2%), paying credit card more frequently and always in full. Setup auto billing , having a line of credit but don't use it. If you do this and not miss a payment / delinquency you should see 800+ score very easily in a year. The most I had was 866 TransUnion , 850 Equifax until I recently bought an investment property and it fell to 805.
800 is diminishing returns.. keep a small revolving balance on each card.. before this apply for a new balance transfer card and slowly pay that down over 24 months
Why? You’re already at a level where you’ll get the best rates. Increasing it, at a certain point, simply takes time.
Best way to increase credit score is to take on more debt. The more you reduce your debt the more your credit score will drop. My score dropped 100 points over the course of 2 years by reducing my debt
Open a new cc?
Doesn't matter at your level. Just keep on paying stuff on time and have an old CC without fees that you keep for like ten years. Your main limit is probably account age
Loan at least 3. Credit cards at least 5. Older accounts at least 5 yrs, utilization at most 10%.
It doesn’t exist. My grandmother was a financial wizard, planner, investor. She worked as a coder for decades and ran her own finance company to keep separate from her lovable but expensive husband and studied the law, details and regulations when credit scores first came out and found that 800 doesn’t exist. It’s a fallacy like McDonald’s monopoly game. Where you get all the pieces—-except one
? My dad’s is 805
