Credit score above 810

My credit score has been lingering around 810 for a while. My payments have always been on time but its difficult to get the score above 810. Any suggestions on how to push it above 830? #personalfinance

Why do you need that ? Above 800 is already great

Why 830 then ? Try for 900 then.

It's not a ranking if you're at 800 it's good already

Are you using credit karma? It typically gives tips for improving your score. For example, I see that my average account age is too low. Thus, to improve my score I need to hold onto my cards longer and not open anymore accounts.

Mine fluctuates between 810-830 as well. There are many factors that will not let you go past that, that being said you are getting no benefit after 750, as the rates do not change much.

See guys, you can be an idiot and still have a high credit score.

First of all, there’s no material value in pushing it higher. The general sentiment is that credit scores above ~740 will get you the best rates and approvals. I’d recommend downloading Credit Karma as it does a good job walking you through the input signals for your credit and what you can do to raise the score. The most likely recommendation is to open a few more credit cards and keep them all in good standing. Your score will dip temporarily but then will scale up. The other easier option is to ask your current credit card company to increase your limits. This will also help.

Easy - use 90% of credit and pay it off in 2-3 months. See the score rise!!

Mine has been stuck at 840-860 for years. Apparently my longest credit line is still not great (something like 30 years is what they're looking for to push it into 890+)
