A recruiter reached out to me for a nontech-PM role in bay area. For those who work here (or anyone familiar with this company), would you recommend working here? Also, how is the compensation compare to other tech?
I don’t recommend this place as they hired a few bad managers who spoiled their culture and execution strategy. If you are looking to work in the AV space, consider other companies such as Argo or Aurora.
Huh? Seems like a massive generalization, especially coming from uber. Vast majority of managers at Cruise are great, and the culture is really technical, focused, and hard working
Recommend this place if you enjoy the excitement of a fast growing company, extreme focus on making one product work for solving an unsolved problem, and comparatively fast pace forward. Left turn — this question is like “have you figured out how to lead a good life?” Kind of, but you can get better, and you almost never feel it’s enough. Compensation — varies wildly case by case. Could definitely be better or worse than FAANG.
I was worried about the culture since its been acquired by GM. Do you work with none GM cars as well?
Culture is Cruise culture, not GM. And cruise is now not a subsidiary of GM any more after SoftBank investment, as mentioned in another reply.
Ditto what others have said. Cruise is completely separate from GM. Agreed w what everyone has said so far ❤️😡👌🏻thanks for sharing!

I recommend it, overall good culture and an interesting problem to work on. Comp is less than the top of FAANG but pretty close, better than most tech
Have you guys figured out how to turn left? I heard that was a problem a few weeks ago.
You'll hear silly rumors like this every time an AV has an issue with something no matter the company. Cruise has been making unprotected left turns since 2015-16
