Crossed a line with my boss
https://twitter.com/karlkfi/status/1261071668882989057?s=21 It looks like Engineers got hit too
A lot of engineers got hit, including my boyfriend in map team.
Please don't leave him. Show your support !
Just 140 people, not that bad .
Surprising that its not more considering its basically their R&D department. Those are usually first to get the đŞ
Unless you're one of the 140 people who lost their jobs during a pandemic. đŁ
Considering they got a billion plus in funding recently there shouldnât be any. Just an excuse to clean house seems like.
Yep, cruise has billions in funding...the goal this year was to double the head count...
No more doubling. That was last year
I have an interview with them... What's going on? Why would they interview new people while laying off others?
Don't come. My boyfriend is an ex-Cruiser. The culture is even more toxic than Amazon.
@Henry.h your bf was in Maps? That group is not well regarded in the company. Iâve heard the term âshitshowâ when people talk about the culture in Maps. @HEEl10 cruise is like any company of 2000 ppl (now less), you should ask your interviewer carefully phrased questions on what the culture is within the group youâre interviewing for.
About damn time for this SoftBank investment to implode.
Lol since Baba how many investment wins can SoftBank count?
You just need one egg to hatch out of the basket.
Partner got laid off from Cruise yesterday. They scheduled an exit meeting for the afternoon, shut off his systems access and email, then canceled the exit meeting with no explanation, and not a word since for the last 24 hours. Heâs emailed HR three times with no response, and still doesnât know what his severance is etc. If you were affected too, was your experience the same or different? Not a good look for the company IMO, they should do better by their employees and treat them with some dignity and respect on the way out, not just kick them to the curb with no information or clarity. Heâs understandably distressed
That's f'd up. I hope someone reaches out with all the info and answers to at least be courteous about it. What a way to terminate an employee AND canceling an exit interview? Trash company.
GM style
my my. GM is good at this.
Oh well, nonsense industry anyway....
But isnât cruise have funding and they anyway are not part of selling cars. They are anyway a future bet on autonomous driving for GM ?
$9B
I thought GM wasnât doing any layoffs? Everyone got their salary cut by 20% instead.
If they continue not selling cars they will have to lay off
Cruise is a subsidiary of GM. So... Yes and no. Also GM makes money when a car is manufactured, not when sold. Dealers have been selling vehicles , but no money has been coming into GM. The plants start back up next week.
