Hey, the IRS is starting to ask more questions not just about gains from crypto, but now even buying / holding. I bit the bullet and used software to summarize all my exchanges over the years. Let me know what software you have found useful. I used Koinly and it was super useful once I hooked in the exchange API's. If you are looking at software I have a $20 off referral link. It's like $49 per tax year and you pay for whichever year you want to download reports from. #personalfinance #investments #crypto #bitcoin #tax https://koinly.io?via=982B36FF
Yes, to a point - for some accounts I only needed to put my (recieving) address and it was able to tell what came in & where from, and what went out and where to. And then it could stitch that info to other addresses if it was me transfering from one exchange to another and consolidate. It's easier if you can access the API from the exchange because it will pull in all the coin addresses, but you can add them coin by coin with your addresses.
You can try it out and see if it gets you what you need. You only need to pay once you decide to download the tax report but in theory you could recreate that yourself screen by screen if you wanted for free.

Can they do chain analysis. I only have crypto addresses , lost my exchange creds, don’t have any balance left on the exchange accounts and they were unverified anyways.
