Working @ MS as PM 62, manager indicated good feedback and that I will be promoted to Senior (63) sometime soon. I like the product (office) - although things move slow, team is good, WLB is fine (maybe because things move slow), but I feel my level and compensation are too low. I was contacted by recruiter from FB, said they are recruiting for L5 and L6. Could you say for sure that I would be better off there? Or are the levels not really comparable? YOE as PM: 6 (4 outside MS + 2 @ MS) + 2 YOE before PM Current TC: (Note this is in Israel but I assume at least levels are comparable): ILS 506K = 467K + stock $156K = 144K + stock Thanks
Take the FB offer if you can get it. By the way, look at level FYI to confirm your level at FB vs MSFT; moving from 62 to L5 is a promotion in a way.
I looked at levels FYI, seems like L5 is merely a promotion, but L6 is a serious one. Hence my question if levels FYI is the holy grail I can count on
Yeah, level FYI is pretty accurate. L5 at FB crosses 3 levels at MSFT and will give you a pay raise for sure. I would advise that you pursue both, but L6 at FB is at least level 65 at MSFT, so the expectation is crazy that you don't want to fail at that level. If you are L6 material, you will kill L5 and get promoted to L6 faster.
