Robinhood or Airbnb

Been at Airbnb for a while and got an offer recently at Robinhood. The pay is slightly higher at Robinhood. But more importantly the scope being offered is much more. Robinhood folks, would you recommend joining? What are the pros and cons? The job at Airbnb is pretty good and the team is great, but the scope and opportunity for growth at Robinhood is much higher than what I have currently. For the long term career growth, which one would be better? Airbnb Pros: - Been here for a long time have a lot of trust built - Good team and problem space - Strong business - Fully remote Airbnb Cons: - Slower growth opportunities - Political Robinhood Pros: - Significantly more scope Robinhood Cons: - Not sure how the business is doing - RTO Current TC: 700K

Only switch for a significant increase in comp. Giving up full remote is not worth it. Robinhood tracks your office attendance. I'm optimistic about the business. As you can see from the stock price I think we're finally on the up swing. All those I've worked with are working hard, but there's also a lot of pressure to deliver. There is plenty of scope as Robinhood is operating with a much smaller staff post layoffs. However, getting people to actually work on your projects only works if it's their top priority. Promotions are very difficult right now. I think you'll be able to have real growth at Robinhood with increased scope, but don't think it will easily translate to a promotion.

+1000. Unless the pay/level increase is worth giving up remote flexibility, I would not do it. Comp increases and promotions are very difficult to come by (minimum 2 years), finance has tightened its belt, and lots of strange/quiet terminations of top performers with no warning. Don't take a good thing for granted unless you're truly bored and itching to leave Airbnb.

How are the promotions after the layoff? Historically I heard Robinhood promotes much faster similar to Fb?

RTO????? With not too much other difference, this is going to be very inconvenient

Please don't join, Robinhood will destroy your life and career. You will regret it

Thanks! Can you elaborate more? The team and EM looked very decent actually

They also did for me. They promised that I will have a big scope and my own small team. And here I am, IC who is cleaning sh.t in shitty legacy components with no perspectives for promotion

700k is good money for a decent lifestyle.. Unless you are getting 1.1m+, it is not worth the risk. This place is not worth it..

Which team?

Unless you are able to pre-negotiate your severence package to compensate for the risk of leaving a job you enjoy, run away. Also, don’t trust anything they are telling you right now. It will likely turn out to be BS once you start.

This. Robinhood is a BS factory

Echoing the above. It's a great place, until it isn't. Rug gets pulled out from under you. Things you hear from others seem far-fetched until you're in that 1:1 with an extra person from HR telling you it's your last day. No severance. You can be a top performer and it still doesn't matter. It happens often enough that it really isn't worth it.
