How easy is it to get to a VP position at Citibank?
You join banks as VP. It is equivalent to L4 in tech companies
Everyone is a VP in a bank
So a VP at Citibank is not technically a VP it’s just a label?
VP is like new grad
Very Easy, If you are an SVP at Citi.

VP at a bank = Business Analyst at Tech
my experience in SWE is i joined as new grad (c11 - officer) and got a promo (c12 - assistant vp ), where it’s internally referenced to as “senior” but the exp range of c12 is pretty high and i would def consider most of them to be mid level instead! c13 is VP and kind of difficult to do internally in my org as many people spend >5 years as c12! I have some colleagues who left citi for a few months to a year as c12 that came back as c13 for quicker promo
It seems easy to stick around there not much politics?
super easy to coast, haven’t seen/heard of anyone getting fired from performance reasons just forcibly swapped teams! lots of office politics for promos and annoying processes to get things done tho and extremely minimal raises but it should be fairly stable after the massive reorg (hopefully)
