I got laid off on 1/18

I was laid off but saved 75k emergency funds. I will be on the payroll for the next 1.5 months and be able to save another 25K 100K savings are enough for me to survive 16-17 months. But, my spouse is working and earning 150K annually to keep the lights on and hopefully, we don’t need to use our emergency fund. I’m debating whether to take rest for the next 6 months and then I can start my job search. In these 6 months, I wanted to try to find what I’m excited about in life as for 5 years I have focused on my career. I may be lost some savings as I will be jobless but I think I may get this opportunity once or twice in a lifetime to step back and enjoy life. Old TC: 272 New TC: 0

No need to take off. You don't need 6 months to chill to find purpose of your life. Get busy and don't be a freeloader on your spouse's income What if your spouse loses job as well. You can find something easy peasy while making time to "figure" out your life

We don’t know how things will look soon. I want to say start looking now, I’m happy to refer you to Amex. But at the same time, if you need 6 months off, no one will blame you.

Take some time to rest, but do you need 6months to rest? Seems a bit excessive

Life is short so totally go for it

Take the six months off. Start investing to possibly create some passive income vs leaving in a bank.

A little of both? Can take time off and maybe dedicate 1-2 days of the week too look for jobs.

T-Mobile random1998 Feb 1, 2023

Update resume and dedicate 30-45 min a day to apply for jobs. No pressure, just apply and see what happens. Maybe something amazing will turn up, who knows. Enjoy your career break!
