Hi all - I'm interested in relocating to DC for family reasons and have been searching roles. Most seem policy related, but I'm wondering if anyone knows which firms have program or product teams in DC. I'm curious if any of the policy teams need products built for them. Any insights? Thanks in advance for the help.
You have my condolences.
^ Don’t listen to this dude. There’s lots to offer in DC. I’m not in product, but Splunk is here...they’d be my first pick if I were you. Otherwise, I work on the biggest AI contract for the DOD. If you’re interested in that, send me your resume.
It's not the opportunity in DC. It's DC itself. I'd take Bridgeport, CT over DC.
Oh, is there anything in Bridgeport? I’ve never heard of it. DC is great...I love it.
Capital One is trying to be a tech company so they’re hiring for a lot of product roles about 20 mins outside DC. Optoro is a late stage startup you could check out as well, they’re more logistics oriented but I’m sure they need product talent
I work on the product team at WaPo, we’re building a CMS called Arc Publishing that’s starting to compete with Wordpress, or at least that’s the goal. Dm if you have questions or want a referral.
Thanks all for the help. I'll keep doing research and follow up with those of you who have offered help. Thanks!
Some of the think tanks do some work with developing tools on top of/to support their policy work. Offhand, WRI, Center of American Progress, and Brookings come to mind, although I’m sure there are some on the other end of the spectrum as well. You may also want to check out journalism shops like Vox or WaPo.
