How much is DE Shaw paying for the project leader role after the revision? Can it match FAANG salaries now ? https://leetcode.com/discuss/compensation/1751747/D.-E.-Shaw-or-SMT-or-Hyderabad TC: 50LPA YOE: 4.5yrs #india #hyderabad #bangalore #startup #deshaw #amazon #flipkart #microsoft #arcesium
I spent 4 years there and can say with my and my only perspective. Shaw has lost the charm completely. It is way behind tech wise. No career growth. All the upper management is old. Basically they joined 15-20 years back and never left because Shaw used to pay insane money and bonuses plus extremely good culture. They are only good in ponting out issues in your replies to NY folks. Extreme US bootlicking. The parties have like vanished. Mostly because employees themselves don't show any interest. There are still a lot of interesting events that happen regularly but the employees have just drowned in the work load. No matter what a certain shaw/arcesium gayfan might keep posting on his ytube channel, wlb sucks, pay disparity sucks, and bonus pay is extremely biased. High impact projects are very very hard to get because they will give you huge bonuses (people get like 15L+). But again, this is given to a small chunk of people and mostly older folks in the team get these projects due to domain knowledge. Tech stack sucks. They are still proud of their inbuilt libraries and force people to use them instead of numpy and pandas. No concept of scaling/distributed systems. Everything is managed by some internal black boxes. At a time atleast 40% of the python developers are doing perl to python and slowly dying. Other 30% are spending majority of their time in maintaining legacy projects that were developed 2 decades back. It is extremely rare for a developer to get good projects within 2 years. But it is possible if you join a new team who has fresh stack and not much legacy things.
BTW, who posts in the YouTube channel?
These guys used to be pay masters in 2005 😬
They give competitive pays to SDE1s for sure. Rest depends on what you bring to the table.
