What is the point of these massive TCs if you’re forced to live somewhere with $2MM 60 year old houses and $5000 rent TC 272, OE in LCOL. New apartments here are $1100 a month for a 2bed2bath https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/making-150k-considered-lower-middle-class-high-cost-us-cities
$150K ?? Even new grads at big tech make more than that..
Plenty of >$150k jobs in med and low COL areas. No one is forcing you to work or live in the bay area.
You aren’t making $150k in most LCOL areas unless you’re a doctor or director+ Or work remote but that’s rare nowadays
OP, where is your VLCOL? I'm in LCOL and I pay 2300 for 2bed2bath...
West Virginia I have a mountain in my backyard too.
Because 150k is less than what a new grad at FAANG makes…
Yeah I'm making 195k at faang now. I just need it on my resume so I can chill and OE in 3 years
Work 2 low tier jobs making 220k+ in lcol >>> 200k at a faang that will lay you off in a heart beat as you scramble to pay hcol rent
It really is the pro gamer move
People make upwards for $500K at Meta as a Sr Eng which is like 6-7 years YOE and sometimes even less.
Surprised that NYC didn’t make the list, what industry is in Arizona and why’s everyone making so much there?

If 150k is the best you can as an SDE in FAANG, then you're doing something wrong. Do the math for what you need and assess yourself if the offerings of LCOL city can get what you need
He’s referring to base. Most levels in big tech are making 13-180 base. So this is accurate.
I don't think they are referring to just base
