Wife and I are based out of Seattle currently and we are exploring moving to Dallas or Austin. We have two young kids (3 and 1), and would love an area that has good schools, parks and things for kids to do. Any recommendations from folks who’ve made a similar move? TC: 650K #dallas #austin #remote
To get bored: Austin To get bored more: Dallas Source: Moved back to the bay from Dallas.
Hahaha. This. I can vouch for that in Dallas. Shitty city.
What can you do in the bay that you can’t in Dallas?
Stayed in Dallas for a few years so I'm biased to say Dallas over Austin. It checks all the things you mentioned
DFW FTW
Dallas is little more value for money. Austin is getting expensive. Housing and renting in Austin is getting expensive. Dallas is growing - easy to get big new house at a decent price. International and domestic air connectivity from Dallas is much easier and cheaper. 2 airports. DFW airport is major. They are talking about 3rd domestic airport in McKinney. I can always go on a vacation to other places and come back. Why to live there. After all most of the days we are busy in daily chores and work.
Disclaimer: Austin is getting expensive because it is also growing (more). More demand for a reason, but Dallas does have the much better airport/ airline hub if traveling is a key influencer and something I really like over Austin (where I currently live).
If rto ever becomes mandatory down the line then Austin is a better choice over Dallas
Have you seen the amazing highways and roadways in DFW. Literally connecting North Dallas to any place
To any place as long as you wanna pay some tolls each way lol
Dallas is better for a family. Better school, transportation, infrastructure, etc. Austin is for single people IMO
+1
Austin has better schools than Dallas when you can live in the kinds of neighborhoods a 650k TC affords.
Austin for opportunities. Housing has relatively come down. Dallas sux. Just flat and get bored to death
There’s no such thing as boring places, just boring people.
And boring people like boring places.
Austin is hyped and no value for your money. It’s a small college town. Dallas is way better. More opportunities and stable
Lol sure If you want to be happy with 90k
"small college town" of 1.3M people. Lol
You might like Mueller, that would be a dream for two young kids I think.
+10000
Can you elaborate Mueller? Thank you!
