Danger in giving notice before stock vesting date?

I'm considering changing jobs soon but want to stick around until my next stock vests on May 15th, a Wednesday. How paranoid should I be about giving my two weeks before that date, like the Monday of the previous week? I'm inclined to be very conservative and instead give my notice on the 15th itself, but maybe I'm just a cynic. To be explicit, the risk is that the company terminates me before that date and I don't get my quarterly RSUs. Any thoughts?

Not intended to be; sorry it came off that way. Just looking for an outside perspective.

Where’s the bragging here? Seems like a genuine question.

Depends on where you are going and how is your relationship with your manager.

Why is it so bad OP? Terrible manager? Low performance?

LinkedIn eCWV51 OP Apr 20, 2019

Nah, just looking to try something new. The timing is more or less a coincidence, but one I should plan around.

If it were my call, I would terminate before the vesting date. The company doesn't owe that to you, it's a perk, but I have no idea how this would be handled. Can you not just wait until your vesting date to give notice?

LinkedIn eCWV51 OP Apr 20, 2019

It's not a perk, it's part of my comp package. However waiting is clearly the best option. Thanks for your perspective.

You seem like an asshole of a manager. But this is exactly why people shouldn't assume their employer is composed of good people that will do what's right. Wait until you vest, even if it means you don't give a notice.

You all can’t put your head down and tough it out for 3 weeks? ❄️

LinkedIn eCWV51 OP Apr 20, 2019

Certainly and I think the consensus is that I should do so. Thanks!

You have earned your vest, but I have seen enough blind posts not risk it.

LinkedIn eCWV51 OP Apr 20, 2019

Yeah, I think this is the way to go. Thanks.

Not intended to be a humblebrag, and I can certainly tough it out, I'm just trying to organize my timeline. Regarding not being owed, the stock is for the last three months of work looking backwards, so it's already earned. It's not so bad! I have a great job at a great company and love my team, I'm just considering moving on to try something new and it happens to be around vesting time, so I'm trying to proactively plan. No hard feelings. Anyway, I think my question is answered in the sentiment of the first 5 comments. Thanks for the reality check.

You are not being a brag. Don’t listen to that oath guy. Known for saying negative shit. Stay for another week post quarterly vesting.
