Long story short, I've outgrown my current position as a DA at a financial data provider and am looking for bigger and better things (I know, "In THIS economy?!"). I would like to get everyone's opinion as to how I could/should advance my career in order to maximize my long-term TC. I have a lot of knowledge of data science concepts and building ML models. At my current job, I've spent a ton of time coding in SQL and Python, working in AWS, automating workflows, and even doing some ETL. Although DS seems like the obvious move, I've gained an interest in DE but that would require additional months of self-study on my part and I still think it'll be an up hill battle to land a job as a DE relative to a DS. As an aside, MLE seems the farthest out of my reach as I'm not a SWE/dev. I enjoy the whole spectrum of data work DA/DS/DE/MLE. At this point, I'm looking to min-max my next move. What would you do if you were in my shoes? Which companies would you focus on? P.S. Below are my stats; I'm open to referrals Current Position: Data Analyst Location: NYC YOE: 4 Education: M.A. - Statistics TC: $120K #data #dataanalytics #datascience #dataengineer #machinelearningengineer
look into analytics engineering as a stepping stone to data engineering
Probably nothing valuable to add, but I would note that the TC variance is way higher within-role across domains/industries than within-industry across roles.
