Data Scientist Phone Screen - Amazon Alexa Shopping
I have a phone screen for Data Science role (L4) with Alexa shopping team. I wanted to know if I could expect coding questions as well ? Recruiter mentioned it would be scripting based questions, however I see some posts mentioning LC (easy-medium) coding questions in phone screen as well (mostly for Sr, L5 roles though). Another question - Can I expect questions based on leadership principles in my first phone screen. Recruiter did not mention if there would be behavioral interview questions. I once interviewed for an L4 DS In the payments teams. They didn't ask any leetcode or algorithm bases questions. But a bunch of data manipulation and statistical python questions using pandas and numpy

Go through all the principles and have some examples ready for where you've used them. But this could just be 5% of the interview. Remaining focus is going to be on your technical capabilities.
Hey, yes do expect coding questions. Choice of programming language is up to you.
Unfortunately the interview experience with Amazon DS is highly variable and team dependent. However I would expect you to be tested on SQL for sure (make sure to cover aggregate functions and self joins while studying). Otherwise there’s a decent chance you’ll get pandas data manipulation questions on top of SQL...if you Google “pandas exercises” there’s a nice GitHub repo with exercises you can do that covers most of what you’d need. For DS I honestly wouldn’t expect LC type of questions - you may get them but I’m an L5 and I’ve also had several internal loops yet none asked LC. Other than that I’d say prep for the classical ML types of questions as well as LP (you likely won’t be grilled too hard on LP here, most likely 1-2 LP questions max). I didn’t get LP on my phone screen but I do know that some scientists have been asked them at this stage. I know this is all generic but I hope it helps. Good luck!

I was on Alexa shopping for less than one year. Left before a year b/c I had the worst experience in that org.

Alexa is not pip org or is it one of those orgs ?
