Data science compensation and culture at YouTube
Anyone know what comp and culture for data science is like at YouTube? Is work life balance pretty decent?
There are two types of data scientist at Google: business analysts and quantitative analysts. Unless you've mastered statistics, you don't really have a shot at QA. It pays pretty well if you get it. Culture there is nice. I'd recommend it.
It’s for a QA role
I'd recommend it then. Smart ppl working there and good balance. You'll notice a diversity of co-workers from those that have families and want to be home to put kids to sleep, to workaholics who want to move up quickly.
Btw. You'll want to start before January. Upper management implemented this stupid policy where no nooglers are modelled for any equity refresh the calendar year that they start. This means that, even if you start on Jan 1, 2018, you won't be allocated any stock come bonus time in December. If you perform high enough, your director may still give you some stock. But it's at their disgression. Would rather you know a priori than come in and find out afterwards.
