I gave 10 rounds of interviews with databricks.. yes 10 rounds Highest score in all tech rounds, spent 48 hours in cumbersome extremely time consuming home assignment, made a massive presentation, and 2 rounds with directors... For my final round with VP, now they say, someone from presentation round out of 5 attendees, thinks you will not be a great fit, and presentation could have been a bit better! Hiring manager loved my profile, thinks he will not find a better fit, and yet they cancelled my final round with VP MY LITERAL 2 months worth of efforts gone down the drain... Now I feel very demoralised, specially since they themselves say “we think we will not find a better candidate, who cleared all rounds so well, but since 1 person out of 12 people you interviewed with thinks you might not fit, we will not go ahead with the offer” This was for a customer success manager role... despite being manager role, I still did a home coding assignment that needs 2-3 days worth of work and even the presentation which is again a full weekend worth of work. They literally told me they are cancelling VP round few hours before.. and the presentation was done many days back.... so why now a negative feedback from then, if there was negative feedback in presentation, why go ahead with other 4 rounds POST presentation????? This has put me off databricks forever. #tech #google #microsoft #databricks #salesforce #linkedin #apac #tc #offer #compensation #interview #referral #startup

Don't give up. I had the same thing happen to me with Apple. One bad round is all it takes for the company to get cold feet. I had 8 rounds with them. 6th round didn't go well. The rest were cancelled. This was for an ICT4 role. I would say that the expectations of the company in this case might have been ridiculous but it does happen sometimes. On the bright side, you definitely have something better ahead of you. Looking at the effort you put into this, a lot of companies would be glad to have you on board. So don't throw your hat in just yet and keep trying!
Completely agree....!! Thank youuu sooooo muchhh 🙏🏻
these companies think they're entitled to all of our time. that's absolutely horrible. a lot of times interviewing is about being lucky and hoping your interviewers don't suck. but fuck them, I think you dodged a bullet. the fact that they couldn't respect your time and be decent says a lot.
Definitely 100% agree.. thank youu sooo muchh! 🙌🏻
you got this tho :) best of luck!
That sucks, but unfortunately this is common in tech industry. Companies and recruiters in particular treat candidates like shit and have no respect for their time.
So true! 😔
I don't do take home assignments. Too much investment in one company. Hope you find a better job op
How do you deny them?
They're usually non-negotiable. So I don't interview with the company.
I am sorry - I feel really sad for you reading this post since you were clearly very invested. Going after 1 job and feeling crushed later, is similar to feeling crushed after 1 date. There is luck and chance, and you cannot let it affect you so much. There are many fish in the sea, and many other jobs out there - one with your name on it. One advantage of going thru so many interviews is that you are well prepared for roles in other companies for similar roles. Please look at them and interview. Databricks is likely to be a good IPO but no guarantee of how it will do later.
Do companies still ask you to do a take home assignment if you’re coming from Google or FB? What would be the point?
this is like going on 10 dates but no sex tho
My partner had a similar experience with Databricks in 2020. Additionally, the process seemed chaotic. As others have said, the prep work you did will help you with other interviews. Best of luck, OP.
Sooo true!! Thank you sooooo muchhhhh 😊😊
Three interviews should be good enough to access a candidate. The interviewer’s should be competent enough to interview
This happened to me with Apple. Now I ignore their inboxes
I cant express how I feel... how can you ignore the beyond excellent performances in your cumbersome tests worth 2-3 man days work, ignore 10 execellent interview performances and at the end tell me in between one of the panel interviewers had a problem with a presentation that happened a week back? Why make me go through other rounds post that, and give me excellent feedback, yet not give an offer!! :(
Sounds like a shitty Corp culture to be honest. Look at it as you having dodged a bullet and don’t let it bring you down too much.
