What does it mean I was deferred for a promotion? And not rejected. They mentioned the gap I need to close is that I need to be more visible, especially with management. This is after a 1.5 years tenure and two salary raises. So they raised my salary by almost 9% and told me that I can be reviewed again in March for a promotion. 8,000 employee at this company. The level for promo is Director, I’m currently senior manager. I used to be Sr Director with a former employer and then took 3 years to be an independent consultant before joint my current employer. HR specialists, are they stringing me along? What should I do? #promotion #hr GTM / Biz role 15 yoe 200k
..uh, they deferred you for the reason they stated??
Correct. Seems like someone in the management/stakeholder group that reviewed my promotion said they haven’t seen enough of me …
It means some HR drone played you like a fiddle. "I didn't get the promotion, but I wasn't rejected!" 💀
