I'm torn between Dell XPS 15 9500 (Latest Model) and LG Gram. Here are the specs. I sell electronics as a hobby, xps build quality is way better but spring for 16gb of ram.
Thank you! You think Win Pro is worth having?
Not unless you know the difference and know you need it. (Bitlocker, rdp, domain connected?)
What do you want to use it for? I believe they target slightly different priorities or use cases, especially with that discrete GPU and resultant weight difference. Personally I stick with XPS due to the consistent linux drivers/distro support - it's usually one of the first to have compatibility bugs fixed.
Honestly as it stands right now, it's just for browsing and emails. I do plan to use it for personal projects (Java / Python based ). Do you think win Pro is worth having?
I agree that you should upgrade the xps to 16GB memory. I have the linux version and I absolutely love it.
Thannk you! Did Linux come stock or did you add it? Dual boot? Which version of Linux? I'm planning to make my old windows machine a Linux based one, so curious..
They sell a version with ubuntu instead of windows. I also have a desktop that I dual boot.
Had a top spec XPS 9570 and hated it, absolute shit build quality compared to my MBP. Fans loud af (dogshit thermals), battery life trash, BIOS issues, glitches with the graphics drivers using integrated GPU instead of nvidia. As others have mentioned, don’t even think about getting less than 16GB RAM.
I've never had any of these issues with my xps. The battery lasts about 10 hours, it runs quietly, and I've never had any overheating issues. Perhaps you got a dud?
Also, MBPs are known to have the absolute worst cooling of any laptops so I'm surprised to hear that an xps would ever fall short of a MBP in the cooling department.

Dell XPS, but upgrade to 16GB. The build quality of the LG gram is a deal breaker for me.
