Has anyone tried adding a dependent (legally dependent as in included in my tax filing) parent to their amazon health insurance? Shouldn’t the insurance coverage be available to dependents? Or is it just to spouse and children?
No can do. Tried it and failed. It has to be spouse and/or children under 21 I think. Parents are not eligible
The only wiggle room is probably if a court decides they are legally incompetent and makes you their legal guardian.
I have never heard of anyone being able to do this.
Insurance carriers will cover dependent children up to age 26. Beyond that there would need to be a diagnosis from a doctor - for example, you have a 32 year old "child" that is 100% dependent on you. Insurance carriers pretty much follow the law and don't go out of their way to cover anyone else. A court order may help. I can't think of examples of special situations. Domestic partner coverage is pretty standard these days.
One more thing. Does this dependent parent qualify for Medicare \ Medicaid?

Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
Ask HR. I would think any legal dependent would be eligible. If you have a court order, or something proving legal guardianship then I would think it should work?
This would be good to know for the future
I mean a dependent is anyone you’re legally allowed to claim on your tax filing which is the case for my mother coz I support her. I guess I’ll have to ask HR
