Did a court marriage for visa purpose. The date on the marriage certificate is a date on which I was in US not the exact date when we signed in the court in India. Now my spouse has a dependent visa appointment in 15 more days. Does US consulate verify in the background if I was in India on the marriage date? Given the time span of interview at consulates, would they verify that in the available short time? Date of marriage isn't asked in DS-160. Any suggestions to overcome this scenario? Thinking of applying for change in date on marriage certificate but that could take more than 15 days.
They might not catch it, but if they do catch it, you'll be in far bigger trouble. Getting the date on the marriage certificate fixed would be the much better and safer option
Yeah, will do it
Marriage certificate with correct date is important. DS-160 you would specify US travel history information. This would clearly shows where you were on that day. Audit can happen randomly but don’t give any chance for it.
Ds-160 has travel History? I forgot if it has. But yeah if the software systems are integrated, consulate officer would be alerted of difference in the dates.
How did you get a certificate with different date?🤔
There are some legal stuff where they show court marriage as marriage registration. They show it as wedding has happened and we are registering it now. Things happened in a hurry and this slipped my mind that some different date would later cause issue during visa appointment.
Still same question again, how can you be not present in India and get a court marriage done, how can you sign it ? For court marriage also you need to be in person right, just asking as I am curious and have some plans for next year for my wedding, that's only reason, is it esign or something
With the help of you guys, I am able to conclude that it is better to reschedule the appointment and get the date fixed on marriage certificate. Thank you so much!
That’s fraud, you’re going to get caught
Thanks!
